I just fell in love with Trader Joe's
This story made me chuckle.
Community organizers, just like our president, weren't happy that Trader Joe's was going to open shop in a predominantly African American neighborhood in Portland.
They were demanding that Trader Joe's make a number of concessions before building as they were concerned about gentrification.
Trader Joe's response?
"We'll take our $8 million dollars to some other neighborhood. Ya'll take care now, ya'hear?"
Congratulations community organizer peoples!
In a tough economic climate, you just scared off a whole lot of money and jobs from a historically disadvantaged neighborhood because you were afraid that too many white folks would come to your neck of the woods.
That'll teach 'em!
