My Sunday feel good story.
A great story about some chimpanzees getting their first taste of outdoors since they were captured in the wild and then used for research for years and years. Some of these animals spent 20 or more years in tiny cages before they ever saw grass again.
It's hard to look at their faces and not see sentient beings, capable of thoughts and feelings and pain, and know their history and not feel remorse for what they lost, but also happiness for what they now have.
Having had a fair amount of medical drama in my life, I know that it's very possible that, on some level, at some stage of my treatment, I have personally benefitted from animal testing. It's hard to feel good about that. And yet, this is my Sunday feel good story.
Sorry, I had lot more thoughts and emotions about this than I thought when I started.
