I was walking Mikey thru the neighborhood a few days ago and ran into a very nice couple that have been working on a VW bus that they plan to drive cross country, which got me all worked up for a variety of reasons, not the least of which, as I told them, is the fact that one of my very earliest memories is the trip my family made in 1974.
"The Source of the Trouble" put all us kids into her VW bus and drove us from Philadelphia to Orlando.
Over 1,000 miles in a VW Bus with 4 boys under the age of 10.
40 years later I can still remember the sound of that little pancake 4 cylinder motor as I slept with my head against the spare tire in the cargo area in the back.
Turns out that the couple I met are kinda cool.
