After riding the bike thru town yesterday, including a death-defying attempt to merge onto 85 north bound below N. Druid Hills at rush hour, I stopped into my favorite watering hole,
The Family Dog http://thefamilydogatlanta.com/ , for a pint of my favorite adult beverage.
Neighbor Fred and I have been making TFD our regular "sit on the patio and run our mouths while having a beer" spot for the last year or two (not sure how long they've been open?) and I love stopping by.
We've met a lot of nice people just hanging out on the odd Tuesday evening.
The Family Dog is owned and operated by the same folks who run Rosebud
(the restaurant not the sled) across the street.

(Lamb shank, dude; get the lamb shank.)
The food and the drinks at TFD are great (one of the best burgers in town) but the real reason I keep going back is the staff. For some reason they seem to like me and I'm always treated exceptionally well.
One of the things I really missed on my little trip was walking into TFD and having several people say hi or shake my hand or come give me a little squeeze and kiss on the cheek.
It's nice.
Yesterday, some rep.s from Monday Night Brewing were in house to promote their new IPA "Eyepatch Ale" (or was it the Fu Manbrew?)
http://mondaynightbrewing.com/
Nice enough people despite the fact that they were going to see Alanis Morisette in concert. (Seriously, what year is it?)
(Asks the guy who saw both Meatloaf and The Scorpions in concert this summer.)
Tonight (Friday) they'll be back supporting the new beer at TFD - it's the official unveiling or ribbon-cutting or some such, I think.
Either way, I strongly feel that if Monday Night Brewing is going to be running around calling their beers "EyePatch" and "Blind Pirate" then they should really hire El Pinche Pirata del Fuego as their company spokes-pirate and/or mascot.
I am, after all, Atlanta's leading Pirata and newly crowned "Hottest White Dude in Publix".

I'm kind of a big deal.
I see it as a win/win all the way around.
El Pinche Pirata supports a local business with his special brand of Pirata-ness and undoubtedly helps them achieve both critical and popular success and in return, I get free beer (and also $).
I like this plan.
Seriously, who do you want representing your brand new baby beer brewing company?
This guy:
"Hi. I'm El Pinche Pirata del Fuego and after a long ride thru the scenic northwest mountains on my extremely heterosexual, American made, big V-twin motorcycle, nothing tastes better than an Eyepatch IPA from Monday Night Brewing Company.
MmmMmm....I can already taste those hops and things and stuff that the fair maidens at Monday Night Brewing Company hand pick, at night, under a full moon, just to bring that hearty "Pirata" flavor to you.
Monday Night Brewing Company. They're MY kinda beer."
......annnnnnddd scene.
Or these people
No. No. No.
I have it on good authority (and I am not at liberty to divulge my sources) that those two in the middle do not have any sort of eye ailment or injury at all.
Posers. Absolute Posers.
Or, as my French friends would say, Le Pouseaurs.
Also, I realized that I have a few of the El Pinche Pirata U.S. Summer Tour t-shirts left.
Maybe I can trade for a 6-er.
