Bill Kristol does an excellent job of calling Maher out, this time literally calling Bullshit when Maher asserts that The Tea Party was about a black president.



The Tea Party started while Bush was in office, back in 2007.

The media at large, however, has been very effective in driving the theory that the party was started by "birth-ers" and racists.

The original impetus of the group was a groundswell of outrage over how much money Bush and congress were spending, knowing that it would lead to higher taxes.

Hence the historical reference.
