Dear Readers of the El Pinche Pirata del Fuego Blog and Online Religious Preparatory School (our 5 commandments will be forthcoming),
In response to my most recent "finally leaving Atlanta" email, I received this note from a thoughtful and discerning fan:

i thoroughly enjoyed your delightful, use of adjectives to describe your upcoming life transformational yet legendary and inspirational true story of "man against the world" cross country road trip.  I think Brittany did one too... but hers was in a car with friends... probably not the same.

maybe you could put a little webcam on the handle bars and face it back at you so we can see the exhilaration in your face as your driving every moment of the trip... it will be as if we are all on your road trip with you.

later,

JM

Hi all,
Trying to leave on my trip this week - delays, delays.
Good Grief Texas is going to be hot, hot, hot!
Will keep everyone posted as to arrivals, departures, detours, delays, incapacitations, and incarcerations as things progress.

Just finished watching the last couple of episodes of "The Long Way Down" - the actor Ewan MacGregor and friends riding BMW enduro bikes from London to Cape town, South Africa.
Amazing to see whether you like motorcycles or not - 85 days of travel thru 18 countries. Highly recommended and makes me want to hit the road asap.

I have reserved a blog space (yes, very narcissistic and fairly gay) at http://elpinchepirata.blogspot.com/ (still not as bad as Facebook)
Will post pictures and the amazing story of my journey as time allows - you know, the triumphs, tragedies, remarkable insights, and philosophical ramblings, as filtered thru the unique perspective, witty narrative, and often thought provoking, poignant, heartbreaking, and sometimes staggering genius of a truly iconic American voice (yes, me) (jerk)

Great idea!

Since I can't put you all on the back of the bike and take you with me, why not, at the very least, let you all share in the warm glow of excitement and satisfaction on my shining face while I travel the mighty highways and byways of these United States!?!

Clearly, this reader is a man of great distinction and class - so much so, that he feels strongly that more of me should be shared with you. Brilliant!

While I hate to disappoint, I have to say that while Ewan MacGregor had National Geo supporting his little trip, El Pinche Pirata is taking his voyage solo with only Mikey the dog as support staff back in the ATL. And, while Mikey is a brilliant animal (he has a college diploma for Christ's sake!) his lack of thumbs has hindered his ability to splice and edit film, so for the time being, we will have to continue with the existing plan.

Thanks to dear reader JM - a t-shirt is on it's way to you for your thoughtfulness and generosity.

Keep the questions coming - trouble at work, at home with the little woman, automotive, etc.? - El Pinche Pirata knows all and tells all. And, I have a vivid imagination, so if I don't know the answer I'll make up something colorful on a completely unrelated topic.

I've added many of you to my GMail Friends/Family Circles so we could chat while I'm gone easily-er.

Also, downloaded Real Time GPS Tracker for my Android so that you can see exactly where I am, how far I've gone, how fast, etc.  Pretty neat.
