Cannabis Now

Funny.

I met with Arlene the psychic when I was in Vegas with Ms. X.
Arlene told me then that I would meet a writer somewhere along my trip with whom I would strike up a random conversation/friendship/correspondence/etc.
I was just up at Sonoma Coffee pouring gallons of high octane into the beard and met, Jeremy, who is the editor (I think he said editor) of a magazine and is working on a book and/or screenplay.

Nice guy.

My old buddy BobbyLee from Middleburg High called last night!  I had such a great conversation with him, catching him up on my wanderings and meandering thoughts.  Love that guy and I think I have nearly convinced him to drop everything and ride out to Seattle to meet me!  .))

It's been a bit like old home week in dear old San Francisco.
First, I saw Beth B., who I've known since 2nd grade at Inwood Elementary, when I got here on Tuesday, then met her husband, John, and her beautiful little boy, Noah, on Wednesday.  Had a great dinner at Gather  http://www.gatherrestaurant.com/   (which they paid for - THANK YOU!!) and just such a sweet time catching up and talking.
I hadn't seen or spoken to Beth in nearly 20 years until just a few months ago and when I started planning this trip I put her on the map as a "must see".  So glad she had time.
Beth is one of those special people who will always have a special little corner of my heart no matter how much time or distance separates us.  There seems to be something distinct to that feeling of closeness you have with people you knew and loved when you were very young that you carry with always.  It's something very tactile, like you can almost touch it, taste it, and it's something unique that always makes me smile inside.
Some of my memories of spending time with Beth as a kid are so clear thirty years later that I can still hear the laughter if I close my eye hard enough.  Having her mom serve us birthday cake at Beth's party in what I think was 3rd or 4th grade (I was wearing bellbottom pants with mushrooms embroidered on the knees), or laughing hysterically at Gary Larson's "Far Side" cartoons at Walden Books in Winter Haven Mall - such purely innocent, little kid stuff, but still so sweet to think back on.
Then BobbyLee called and we laughed and I talked and rambled and he laughed more; it was great.  I met BobbyLee at Middleburg High in 1987 and we've been good buddies ever since.
It's always a good day to talk with him.
And, later today, "El Duece" flies into San Jose!
(I'm assuming he's bringing gifts to make up for that Scorpions show .))
