Can the Obama administration doing anything right?

Poster girl representing hard-working, low-paid American for Obama's new Organizing for Action ad is actually a British woman on London train

In a new ad by a political action group affiliated with President Barack Obama urging the U.S. Congress to raise the minimum wage, one of the featured hardworking, underpaid taxpayers is not like the other.
According to UK's Telegraph, Organizing for America used what appears to be stock footage showing a woman on London's Overground commuter train.
The 30-second TV spot set to stirring music, which premiered this week, begins with a shot of a man in a cowboy hat driving a car, followed by a glimpse of the blonde Londoner sipping coffee cup and looking anxiously out the window.

The British paper pointed out that the train car where the young woman is standing is empty enough to plainly see the unmistakable yellow chairs and railings typical of Overground trains that run between central London and the suburbs.
Over the straphanger's shoulder, a corner of a transit map could be seen showing Overground’s eastern-most stations.

MailOnline can now reveal that Organizing for America used a clip from the photo agency Corbis. Still images of the same blonde woman in a black blazer and button-down shirt were captioned 'businesswoman traveling on London Overground train.
Organizing for Action was formed from the remnants of Obama’s successful 2012 re-election campaign. The group operates as a nonprofit and raised more than $26million last year.

In a further news, if you're hunting for an African American former police officer who is suspected of murder, and is driving a black Nissan pick up, don't shoot a 71 year old Hispanic woman and her daughter, who are in a blue Toyota pick-up delivering newspapers.
Bonus:  100 rounds fired into the pickup.
Extra Points:  Cops fired a hundred rounds into the cab of pick up and still didn't kill them.

Heroes.  Every last police officer, firefighter, teacher.  Heroes.

It took almost a year, but a civilians oversight board has finally decided that the eight Los Angeles Police Department officers who shot over 100 rounds at two innocent women were not acting in accordance with department policy.

February 7, 2013 was the height of the manhunt for Christopher Dorner, who killed four people in his quest to get revenge on the police department that fired him. He was believed to be driving a charcoal Nissan Titan pickup truck with a ski rack and oversized tires.

Emma Hernandez, then 71, and her daughter Margie Carranza, 47, were delivering newspapers from their pickup truck, which was a blue Toyota Tacoma with no ski rack and regular sized tires. When one of the woman delivered a newspaper, a police officer mistook the sound of the paper hitting the ground with a gunshot, and all hell broke loose. While the officers were understandably stressed at the time -- there was a man out there hunting them down -- that's not a good enough reason to fire 103 rounds at a pickup truck that isn't even the same color as the one they were looking for.

Police chief Charlie Beck told the commission that the officers should have made "every effort that they determine that the truck was in fact Dorner's." Since the trucks were clearly not the same, he decided that they did not. Also, while the pen is mightier than the sword, Beck found that a newspaper is "not an object that could be reasonably perceived to be an imminent deadly threat."

"I sympathize with the officers, but I have a very high standard for the application of deadly force, and the shooting did not meet that standard," Beck said.

Fortunately for Hernandez and Carranza, only two of those 103 bullets hit their target.
Hernandez was shot in the back twice. Carranza was injured by broken glass but otherwise unharmed. The women were given a $4.2 million settlement and another $40,000 to replace the truck back in April. That's right: it took just two months to figure out that they should get millions of dollars in compensation but a year for a panel to decide the police officers who shot them did something wrong.

And, according to the Los Angeles Times, that finding almost didn't happen at all. A "panel of high-ranking police officials" actually urged Beck to clear the officers, but he recommended to the Police Commission that they be found in violation of policy.

The officers, none of whom have been named, could face anything from extensive retraining to termination. We won't know what their punishments will be, though, because that information is private under state law. Of course, shooting innocent people is also against state law.

Ever stumble upon an abandoned underground tram station and think to yourself,
"Self.  If I could do anything with this underground tram station to make it really cool, what would I do?"
If you're nodding your head now, then you are very, very troubled.
But you might like this article that found on MessyNessyChic.com -

Step One:  Get yourself an abandoned subway station.  Let sit for nearly 100 years.

Step 2:  Use magic to transport sunlight to said abandoned station.

Step 3: Prove that you are best wizard evar.

Step 4:  Dance in the magic underground sunlight.

Good ol' Nessy also has some abandoned stations in Paris:

Apparently it’s not just Common Core for kids. Kids are also common property.

In addressing criticism of the Common Core national education standards, a panelist at the Center for American Progress (CAP), a liberal think tank, said critics were a “tiny minority” who opposed standards altogether, which was unfair because “the children belong to all of us.”

Paul Reville, the former secretary of education for Massachusetts and a Common Core supporter, said,  “Again, the argument about where it came from I think privileges certain sort of fringe voices about federalism and states’ rights, and things of that nature, when really what we’re doing at the national level here now, state by state, is what a lot of our states thought made sense individually.”

“Why should some towns and cities and states have no standards or low standards and others have extremely high standards when the children belong to all of us.”

9 out of 10 times, when someone uses privilege as a verb they’re a Marxist bot who thinks that the only things wrong with the USSR was a lack of respect for the environment and gay marriage.

When someone uses privilege as a verb, it’s time to stop taking him seriously in the same way as if he began yelling racial slurs.

But back to the question of common ownership of our children. To use Reville’s language, Paul Reville privileges the collective understanding of the community over that of the family. Paul believes that all your children belong to him because he is one of a gang of smug petty tyrants and his worldview privileges the collectivist ideas that allow him to remain in power.

I strongly dislike this collectivist garbage.
Hillary Rodham Clinton helped get this load moving with her, It Takes a Village nonsense.
Of course, her village is staffed with government employees that you and I pay for and cannot get into but that's a discussion for another day.

Very simple point here folks:
Government schools have been putting out dumber and dumber students for a long time.
Democrats have controlled government schools for that same long, dumb time.
It's not an accident that these 2 things have happened simultaneously.

Look at any big city in America.
Almost all of them will have schools that you would like to avoid putting your children through.
It's a big reason that people move to the burbs - better schools.
All of these big city schools have been run like Democratic Jobs/Gift programs for years.
Every so often, we hear how we need to spend more money to fix this or that broken thing in, around, or about the school system.
And it never does much of anything except cost lots of money.
The students do more and more worser.
(See!?! It's even happening to me!)

Home schooling people.
Get your kids out of these government traps and help them to think and learn for themselves.
I am ever so glad that I didn't get my head filled with the nonsense they are pouring into your kids right now.

A friend sent me this bit of cosmic information yesterday:

48 HR COUNTDOWN TO MERCURY RETROGRADE:

Are you feeling the preparation you are going through? I know many people are cleaning out and up their homes, lives, closest relationships, careers, ways of being and giving away or re-purposing what no longer reflects who they truly are today!

Since this weekends BIG solar flare we have been hit with a wave of renewal and regeneration. On the weekend I felt the wobble too as I was being guided to slow down and accept alternatives at every twist and turn. The universe really is giving us what we desire right now. Be open to accepting alternatives as you are organic and allowing - drop the controlling ways. You will then be moved into very healthy situations for yourself when you do. Do it and you will know.

In 48 hours Mercury begins it's first retrograde for 2014 and we have been preparing since January 21/22. You may feel a rush to 'get everything done' in time. Almost like you are preparing for an event or special party.

________________________________________________________________________________

Maybe there's something to all of this as Mercury in Retrograde (supposedly) means that communications will be difficult.
You can say that one again, brother.
The last few days have been something else in the "personal relationship speak" sector.

Let's hope it irons itself out soon there, Universe.
K?

P.S.  I don't think you should be a hand model if you have more knuckle hair than the average chimpanzee.
         Just sayin'.

P.S.S.  Speaking of monkeys.....

APOLLO BEACH, Fla. -

The animal is believed to be breaking into cars and disturbing things inside, although nothing has been taken.
No injuries have been reported since the primate has been on the loose, but neighbors say they want it captured safely and moved elsewhere.

The U.S.S. Forrestal makes its last voyage.

My step father served aboard The Forrestal back in 1967 when an accidental detonation of a WWII era bomb set off a chain reaction that killed more than 100 sailors.  Fires burned for 3 days on the ship.
Now, after more than 38 years of service, she has been sold for scrap.

I was sitting in the waiting room at my doctor's office today when I clicked over to NPR's website to see what the what.

I'm glad I did.
Writer, http://www.npr.org/people/5194672/robert-krulwich, had a short piece about his favorite blog, The Oatmeal, and that writer's story about the death of his pet parrot as a child.

Worth going on over to it if you have a minute.
