I've always found Oprah Winfrey profoundly self-important, self-righteous, and just plain disingenuous.
(Catch one of her old shows and watch her behaviour and speech when she has a black guest vs. a white guest and you'll see what I mean.)
So I will admit that I've been enjoying this story just a bit too much but
A. It shows what lackey nitwits are running the media
B. It shows who Oprah really is - the queen of everything ( at least in her own mind)
Last week, Oprah went on both Entertainment Tonight and Larry King and claimed that she had been treated poorly because of her race. She said the Swiss clerk in the fancy store she was in gave her poor service because the clerk decided that a black woman wouldn't have the money to shop in that particular store.
The media, ad hoc, jumped onto the story.
OMG!!!
Poor Oprah.
If a bazillionaire, rags to riches, media mogul, all around good gal like Oprah Winfrey can't break free of the bondage of racism even while she's shopping in a fancy store in Switzerland, how can average person ever expect to get ahead!?!
You'll wanna read that sentence again to see how ridiculous Oprah's claim was to begin with and how overly eager the media is to jump on this type of narrative.
Seriously.
This is what Oprah/the media wants me to believe:
American racism is so prevalent and pervasive that we managed to export it to a country that wouldn't take sides during the F@#KING Holocaust!?!
Turns out though that somebody actually did a lil research and found the racist, swiss, shop girl and asked her a thing or two about messin' with our Oprah.
A Swiss sales assistant caught in the middle of Oprah Winfrey's media racial firestorm claims that she's tired of being bullied and lied about by the powerful billionaire and cable network owner. Speaking anonymously, the sales clerk Oprah has publicly accused of racism for not showing her a $38,000 handbag told a Sunday newspaper, "It is absolutely not true that I declined to show her the bag on racist grounds. I even asked her if she wanted to look at the bag."
Hmmmm.....
And then this happened:
from Breitbart:
And what is Oprah's reaction to being called a liar by a racist?
Well, it certainly isn't the reaction of someone who was the victim of racism and then called a liar by the racist.
No, when confronted with the shop girl's charge, Oprah issued a non-apology apology saying she was "sorry" the incident "got blown up."
Well, who blew it up?
While promoting the movie, Oprah also shared the anecdote with Larry King. Obviously, this anecdote is part of Oprah's "Butler" promotional tour.
If we had a media worth a damn, it is right about now that they would be all over this.
There is more than enough evidence to suggest the possibility that Winfrey just exposed some innocent sales clerk to worldwide racial infamy using an exaggerated anecdote:
1. As I said yesterday, isn't it just a little "too neat" that, while promoting a film with a heavy racial theme, Oprah pulls a "this racism just happened to me" anecdote out of a $38,000 purse?
2. Why didn't Oprah want to announce to the world the name of a store that practices racism? Would that make the story too easy to check?
3. I repeat: Why isn't Oprah outraged that a practicing racist just called her a liar in front of the whole world?
Our media claims that its job is to hold power accountable, especially when the powerful exploit the powerless.
Don't hold your breath. Our media loves a race hoax. Although all the evidence proved race had nothing to do with the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin, the media eagerly joined Al Sharpton and Barack Obama in their cynical con to pretend it did.
But what's the reputation of a nobody sales clerk to a media that just falsely smeared the entire state of Florida?
